During the year and a half that the Caldwell family spent in Tampico, their land at Loma Caliente went unattended.
... many things were taken, assuming they had been abandoned...
and bees built a huge nest in the dome.
When the Caldwells arrived and had settled into a tiny apartment in the nearby town of Acuitzio, they got right to work bringing the land back up to camp standards. They also began building more domes.
And a foundation for the next dome was poured.

The work is by no means finished. There is still much to do, but someday this land will be an ideal place to model what camps can be like elsewhere in Mexico.
The brush started to grow back...
After evicting the bees from their home in the dome, they made a new home in a nearby dead tree trunk. We hope to get some honey from them at some point.
A backhoe was hired to put in a road and dig locations for future domes.
He did an amazing job of leveling the area, he was only off by about 6 inches!
Truckloads of gravel for concrete were delivered....
In late January, Bill Ensinger arrived to continue the effort. We mowed and cleared sticks, and burned large piles of thorny stuff.
