AFTER:
Monday, April 28, 2003 was a landmark celebration for the reopening of the park just above the Vida Abundante church in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. Some say over 1000 kids and parents showed up. Our daughter Kari face painted and Cherith, Micah, and Rosie did balloons for two and a half hours. Five of our six kids were in costume.

Teams of church teens played marbles with the little kids. Another bunch of church teens helped with the moon walk. The youth pastor was MC and led songs and games.

Ali, the RYCCA camp cook, is helping face paint in the park.

RYCCA was responsible for two hours of the program and provided some of the action for the kids.

We had to change some of our plans because of the overwelming crowd of kids.

Our oldest son Nathan taught stilts and Caleb walked through the crowds juggling.

Ana organized the arrival of the mayor, giving of flowers, cutting the ribbon and speeches for the program. The mayor cut the ribbon. An article appeared in the newspaper.

God provided 40 young people from the church to assist us in games, activities,
crowd control and sharing individually with the kids.

It was a great celebration and fun time for the kids.

The children enjoyed the playground while Kari and Caleb entertained in their clown costumes.

One little girl who attached herself to Caleb was a neighbor of Ana's. She asked Ana what was going on as she watched the young people pray. Ana was able to share with her about Jesus and how He gives us love and joy in our lives. She is coming to Ana's meetings and we pray that she will find Jesus. For followup, Ana and her helpers will continue to meet with kids at the park.
